DANIEL ASH

Daniel Ash is a well-known “textural” guitarist and vocalist who co-founded the seminal groups Bauhaus and Love and Rockets. He has also worked on numerous solo projects and recently has been performing gigs as DJ in the Los Angeles area.

Ash became friends with Peter Murphy as a teenager in England and several years later they formed Bauhaus and recorded "Bela Lugosi's Dead". The 1979 release became one of the most influential songs in gothic rock music. After nearly five years of recording and performing, Bauhaus broke up and Ash put together Tones on Tail with Bauhaus drummer Kevin Haskins. After limited commercial acclaim, Tones on Tail disbanded, and Ash founded Love and Rockets in 1985 with Kevin Haskins and David J, also of Bauhaus. Love and Rockets went on to record nine studio albums and scored commercial success with the singles “So Alive”, “No New Tale to Tell" and”Sweet Lover Hangover".

In 2008, Bauhaus released "Go Away White" their first studio album in 25 years and a reunited Love and Rockets played at Coachella Music and Arts Festival and at Lollapalooza. In June 2009 Ash released a cover of the David Essex song "Rock On" featuring singer Zak Ambrose, of the band Ambrose, on vocals. Daniel Ash’s fourth solo album is due for release in 2010.
