Amplive is the DJ and production mastermind behind the Bay Area hip-hop duo, Zion I. Zion I first broke out onto the scene in 1998 with their debut single "Inner Light,” along with their debut EP Starship. In 1999, they released their next single "Critical" featuring Planet Asia, and another EP, Chapter IV. Their debut album, Mind Over Matter, was released in May of 2000. They have since released three more albums: 2003’s Deep Water Slang V2.0, 2005’s True and Livin’ (which featured appearances by Talib Kweli, Aesop Rock, Del, and Gift of Gab), and 2006’s Heroes in the City of Dope (which was a collaborative effort with The Grouch). They have also released three mixtapes: 2003’s Curb Servin’: The Mixtape Sessions, 2004’s Politicks: Collabs & B-Sides, and 2004’s Family Business. Beyond his work with Zion I, Amp Live has furthered his production career, producing for artists like Linkin Park, Kafani, Keak da Sneak, Goapele and Planet Asia. His work has also been featured in a number of movies and TV shows, most prominently in ESPN's Playmakers, but also Honey, Big Fat Liar, America's Next Top Model, ESPN's SportsCenter. Amplive is also sponsored by Sony and ProTools; and he is one of the spokesmen for the PSP’s Traxxpad software.
