PEP LOVE

Pep Love moved to Oakland as a teenager from Jackson, Mississippi, and partnered with fellow DJ/producer Jay-Biz to create the group, The Prose. The Prose was later incorporated into the hip-hop collective, The Hieroglyphics, in 1995. Pep Love made his recording debut on Casual’s 1993 release, Fear Itself. The Prose made their album debut, The Shamen, in 1993. Pep Love released his solo debut album, Ascension, in 2001 and Ascension Side C in 2003 through the Hieroglyphics’ self-owned, independent label, Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings. He also contributed significantly to both of the Hieroglyphics’ studio albums, 3rd Eye Vision in 1998, and Full Circle in 2003.
